Os indicados do 68º Emmy Awards, considerado o Oscar da televisão, foram anunciados nesta quinta-feira. As nomeações para a edição de 2016 foram reveladas pelos atores Anthony Anderson (Black-ish) e Lauren Graham (Gilmore girls) em Los Angeles. A cerimônia de premiação do Emmy Awards ocorrerá no dia 18 de setembro e será apresentada por Jimmy Kimmel. As produções indicadas foram lançadas no período entre 1º de junho de 2015 e 31 de maio deste ano.
Assim como em edições passadas, Game of thrones foi o grande destaque, com 23 indicações no total. The People v. O.J. Simpson: American Crime History surpreendeu com 22 nomeações e Fargo ficou com 18.
Nos Estados Unidos, a cerimônia de premiação é transmitida pelos canais abertos ABC, CBS, NBC e Fox. A média de audiência do ano passado registrou 11,8 milhões de telespectadores, a mais baixa em 30 anos. No Brasil, a cerimônia é transmitida simultaneamente no canal Warner.
No ano passado, Game of thrones foi o grande vencedor, com 12 prêmios no total, incluindo o de melhor série dramática. O seriado da HBO também liderou o número de indicações na edição, com 24 no total. Diferente do Globo de Ouro deste ano, Narcos (Netflix) e Wagner Moura não foram indicados.
